VAS content market
If you ever wondered why your mobile carrier is offering you so many SMS then you have to look at the VAS revenue figures. SMS is still the biggest revenue generating VAS for the mobile companies.
According to a news source, a report by Informa Telecoms and Media and strategic partner, the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) has estimated that the value of the market for user generated VAS content in mobile market would be worth $13.1 billion by 2011. That is a huge lot of money.
It is also reported that the major portion of this revenue would be shared by the chat services as well as the photo related services on mobiles. And I take special pride and happiness in saying that I am directly involved in these services at my workplace. Yay!
