Everybody who passes some amount of time on internet daily knows what blogging is. This excludes those whose sole motive is to check online. Anybody who comes online to browse has either tried or seen or at least heard about blogging. Blogging is derived from web logging. Web logging could be understood as a practice where a person has a website or a webpage that is regularly updated. It can be in the form of a journal or an online diary. The website is frequently referred to as a blog. The most striking feature of a blog is the frequency with which it is updated. The freshness and originality of the content are some other features. But as the popularity of the blogs is increasing so are the forms in which blog exist.

Blogs have not just remained those personal online slates where the users used to record the happenings in their daily life but they have transformed to include some very rich and interactive content. One of the more important morph of a normal text blog is the photo blog. User now days are able to post pictures on to their blogs, title them and invite comments on them. Advancement is technology is assisting the users in a big way. The users can not only post the content from their computers but can do it from their mobile phones. Mobile carriers and websites are providing users with software and facilitating them in myriad ways to directly and immediately post text and pictures on to their blogs. Not only this, they are enabling them to notify their readers about the blog updates in form of RSS alerts. Blogs are increasingly acquiring another novel form these days. People are creating blogs that are commercially feasible too. People who always wanted to write but never got a chance or a platform are publishing their content on their blogs. They are getting another outlet for exposing the talent which till now existed just as their hobby. And their hobby is giving them a chance to become self-reliant too by taking it as full-time commitment.

There are blogs which talk about technology; there are specialist blogs which talk about topics are specific and far flung as home care. There are also blogs started by the top level executives the companies and the subject matter experts in the industry. These blogs are commercial ventures as in they make money to sustain their creators a full time position. Not only their creators, the blog are becoming reason good enough for the third party widget creators to set up their shops. There are companies which provide services that track the hits and provide counters or provide polls or manage advertisements for the bloggers.

Amid all this blogging hoopla, there are some flip sides which are showing their faces too. There are some big named advertisement managers which are being accused of unfair practices. There are copyright issues as well. But whatever happens, one thing is sure, blogging in present form or not, is here to stay.
